Ron Sanderson is a Doctor of Public Health and a respiratory therapist with years of experience as a frontline staff therapist for ventilator patient care as well as a supervisor. He has worked helping the development of ICU ventilators with pioneers in respiratory care such as Forrest Bird and Jack Emerson, and with several major ventilator manufacturers in the world.like Hamilton Medical, Airon, etc. 

He grew up in rural Oregon, obtained BS in Biology and Master of Education from the University of Oregon. He trained in respiratory care at Northeastern University and the University of Florida. His doctorate in public health is from the University of Hawaii. 

He also is a registered respiratory therapist, registered pulmonary function technologist, certified asthma educator, and life member of the American Association for Respiratory Care. In his career, he participated as an oral examiner for the American Registry of Inhalation Therapy and an item writer for the credentialing exams of the NBRC. 

Ron founded two accredited schools of respiratory therapy. The first was at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL. The second at Kapiolani Community College, Honolulu, HI was awarded as an outstanding vocational program in the USA by the U.S. Department of Education in 1986. 

He has made presentations nationally and internationally on many various topics including ventilator automation and ventilator patient safety. Ron has devoted his time volunteering to help to improve people’s health focused on respiratory care, and is an honorary member and counselor of the Japan Respiratory Care Network. 

He recently retired as Director of Respiratory Care at Castle Medical Center (currently Adventist Health Castle).  

Ron enjoys hiking, swimming, reading, movies and travel. He lives with his wife, and has two daughters and one granddaughter.
